PDCA proposed amendment to it's StandardThe PDCA's proposed amendment to it's Standard was a topic of an article titled A Matter of Color by Beverly Lehnig in the July issue of the Canine Chronicle.
The author states: AKCs recent Board minutes reveal that the Pug Dog Club of America has requested permission for its members to vote on adding a color disqualification to the standard, as well as a stated color fault and some comments. Members will be asked to vote as follows: COLOR: Colors are fawn and black. Or, a second option is included as follows: COLOR: Colors are black, fawn, or silver. The descriptions of the colors read: FAWN: May range from a pale cream color to a rich apricot. The fawn color should be decided so as to make the contrast complete between the color and the trace and the mask. BLACK: Jet black. A small white spot on the chest is permissible. SILVER: Very rare. A true silver is a cold fawn color. They do not have solid black legs and head. The silver color should be decided so as to make the contrast complete between color and the trace and the mask. The fault that would be inserted into the standard would read: Smuttiness in fawns. A Pug would be disqualified if it was not of an allowed color. This action by the Pug Dog Club of America was precipitated by a judge in Canada giving an award to a brindle Pug and it was thought necessary to cover future problems before they happen. My information is that the Canadian standard will be changed also. The vote by members of the national Pug club is scheduled for September. for the full article go to: http://www.caninechro... The vote did happen at the PDCA Annual meeting held in conjunction with the National in Harrisburg, PA in September 2007,can you guess what happened?? |
