I just found this site today and am hoping to become a member!  I am just enamored with pugs of color.  I have a fawn and a black pug and I am dying to get a white, silver or brindle.  I used to raise and show French Angora rabbits and there was a time when the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) did not recognize the broken (spotted) colors.  I was involved in bringing their eventual acceptance about.  I have recently began my trek into the pug world and I want someone to mentor me and help me become a superior breeder of pugs of color.  these colors are so beautiful and I find it difficult to locate any available for breeders such as myself which makes me worry about the possibility of losing these pug colors to extinction, or too much inbreeding.  I realize that  everyone is concerned and rightfully so, about irresponsible breeders and puppy mills.  But how is someone such as myself to go about becoming like the breeders on this site?  How can I get started, how can I find someone to help me along to be one of the GOOD ones?  How can i get involved???  How did you get started? One of the greatest joys in my life was raising my rabbits and I have always wanted to extend that joy into the dog world.  pugs are the absolute best, and I'm VERY dedicated to the art and science of breeding (my bachelor's degree is in animal husbandry).  Is anyone willing to get behind a newcomer to pugs of color and help me along?

Hi!
I am writing to you from Europe!
I love your page and I am also an owner of two pug dogs, fawn male and black female...My biggest wish is to have a white or silver gray or even a brindle pug puppy...:-) Unfortunately none of those colors are recognized here even though I d like to have one of those as a pet...

Does anyone know how to get one of the pugs whit those colors in Europe or how to get in touch whit someone in USA who would be willing to send a puppy like that?
I would be grateful for any kind of information...

Just found out about the different colors of pugs a few months ago.  The white ones are so adorable!
I raise Fawn and Brindle Boston Terriers, so I am accustomed to the ignorance and hatred that is out there for something different.  Just b/c it's different doesn't mean it isn't beautiful and doesn't deserve to exist!  Fight the power Colored Pug Lovers!  Us Colored Boston people will unite with you!  LOL...Great site though, full of info and pictures.  I hope someday Colored Pugs and Colored Bostons will be in the AKC/UKC Conformation ring, next to their traditional counterparts.
Please see our All Color Boston Terrier Club website and Message board
http://www.coloredbostons.com
http://www.alllcolorbostonterrierclub.com

If anyone wants info on Conformation showing Colored Pugs in the UCA, I can get you in touch with the proper authorities to at least be able to get the Colored Pugs out there and showing.  Gotta get your practice for the big time.  Please see www.ucadogs.com

I own a Fawn Pug.  I was surprised to see that they come in different colors.  These pugs are absolutely beautiful!  I am sure the AKC is just jealous of these beautiful colors.

We recently lost our Annabelle unexpecedly. She had labored breathing and we took her to the Vet imediately. Received updates regularly. The last we heard was they wanted to keep her in the oxygen chamber for the night and then came the devastating news that she went down-hill quickly and after the vet's best efforts to save her, she passed away.  I had her privately cremated (sp?) and now have her ashes as well as our other two pugs who passed. My plan is to combine all their ashes with ours and then we'll be together in eternity.  I've only had fawn pugs and now I want a black one.  That's it in a nutshell. I love pugs & I love our cat, Lilly.

I was glad to find  your website. I never knew Pugs come in different colors.  These pugs are beautiful. They look like they were perfectly colored by nature.  I owned a fawn pug for 9 years that recently passed away.  I wished I could find a brindle or black and silver to buy.

I am so very glad I found your website.  When i got my little female pug she was black with a small white star on her chest.  She started showing signs of grayish fawn on her sides at 6 months, she got a white stripe in the middle of her double curl tail.  I thought she wasn't a pure pug (maybe mixed with Boston Terrier).  Now especially when she stands in the sunlight she is silver on her sides with a black muzzell and face and a black stripe down the middle of her back. After seeing the pictures of the pugs from Funny Farm Pugs, I can see that my precious baby is in with the BEST of the breed.  I especially love the Brindle pugs, they are beautiful.

THANK YOU!  I love this site.  My pug had a litter of 6 puppies recently.  Three black,  one very light fawn, one regular fawn and one silver grey male.  Being accused of it not being "pure" I am glad to have this site to refer to as proof that purebred pugs come in other colors.  I am not registering with AKC nor will I ever breed her again, but I am keeping the little guy!  He is beautiful.  She had absolutely no problem with delivery and all the puppies are healthy and wonderful and off soon to happy homes (except the two we are keeping).

Hello from germany,

beeing a pugbreeder in germany who prefers  a different standard of pug ( more the old type of exterieur which has long legs and a free nose) I`m also very intersted in these beautiful pugs with different colors.
These year I`ve got my first silvergrey puppy born in my own kennel - so I was so happy about it, that I send my husband to the states and we bought a silvergirl too.
So we hope that this will be the beginning of a wonderful silvergrey line in germany and europe.

Do you know if there are more silvergreys in europe too. As I know we are the first..???
It would be wonderful if these beautiful colors like choclate or silver will come to europe too. But we must care for them I think, they are so  outstanding.

I filled out the membership registration and hope that everything works.
Please let me know if everything is okay and please contact me if you have more questions.

best regards from the german pugs and Maren Nordmeier

I love all pugs!!!  I have 3 fawns, 1 black, and 1 brindle with a mask...they are all gorgeous to me!  I was wondering...I am no genetics expert...but I have read recently that fawns and blacks bred together should produce only blacks (not true...at least in my house) and I was wondering what to expect breeding brindle to fawn, and brindle to black....can someone help?  I have not decided whether or not I will do this, but I am curious!  At any rate...long live ALL PUGS!!!!

I love your site...and its nice to see that some people believe that if it comes from a female pug and a male pug  then it is a pug...lol...I have five colored pugs and couldnt be happier..well no i could be if they would leave the horse pies in the field instead of playing with them ..lmao...but i have so much fun with them...Their character cannot be beat...I have had pugs ever since i can remember and carry on the tradition with my children who also are pug lovers..This is one of the few sites that i have seen that promote color..
Thank you....Althouh for as many years as i have had pugs I didnt realize there was such a thing as a brindle..How cool is that...God Bless keep up the good work...pug love to all...

WOW! If we could only get them in green, just joking.  We have had this site linked from our site for quite awhile, and I have not been back for some time, and WOW! IMPRESSIVE.  Unity in numbers.  How boring the world would be if people only came in two colors????? I believe the same to be true for our breed Pugs.  A great big THANK YOU to Lisa, and we support you 100% and then some.  Some day soon Brindles, Whites and Silvers will be in the show ring, and WINNING!

The love of a pug is in the sweet loving expression of it's face and the gentle entertaining personality, not the color of the coat! Love and good luck, Bonnie, Lily, and Lucy

I have owned pugs for 22yrs.I purchased my first AKC Black Brindle in April. His name is Buster he is the most hanesome Brindle I have seen. How many peopel have brindles that are AKC.And why does AKC not put the Brindle color on the applications for the puppies? Is it because AKC is afraid to upset the people that are against pugs of color. For those of you that have brindles for years please send me info on the brindles that may be helpful. Thanks and I to feel very thankful for this site!!

Good evening. Although we are relative new comers to the Pug breed, we are totally in love with the colors in the Pug world! Sad to hear that the Pugs and their fanciers are attacked by those who feel only the fawn and black are correct, and I'm surprised they accept the black even! We have bred Chinese Shar-Pei since 1995 (our kennel name is Kwang Tung Temple Dogs) and have bred all Shar-Pei colors, believing that the health and temperament of the dog was far more important than the color! We have long been a voice for the Flowered Shar-Pei (1/2 white, 1/2 some other solid color) and have been through much of the similiar ugly experiences mentioned by yourself and others (our Flowered kennel name was Shun Dar Temple Dogs). For many years Flowereds were also culled at birth so as not to bring disgrace to their kennel. We even took on an entire breed club defending the Flowered Shar-Pei!! We're very proud of the fact that we produced the first Flowered stud dog in Spain who sired the first entire Flowered litter in all of Europe! Let them put that in their pipe and smoke it! LOL And now we are truly in love with these funny little Pug dogs, and feel that we want to join the fight for their right to color. Although we are only owned by 2 fawns, 2 blacks, and 1 silver/grey, we feel our colored Pug family will grow with time. I have enjoyed your site and your fire for fighting in what you believe in - Pugs of Color!!! Beautiful!!! Warmest regards, Sarah D Gonzalez - Zia Badlands Pugs

It took me along time to have a pug in my home. I have had a friend whom has had them for along time and I enjoyed visiting her and being around the pugs but to have them notta. The 1st pug that I owned made me love them more. I now have 5 in my home and of all colors from Fawn to brindle and want more. The colors are just 1 of there fine qualities. And all are definitely a pug with a good background. I am glad to see this site up and going. Maybe the people in the world of PUGS will finally accept these percious little loves. Keep it going and lets spread the word. thanks

I will soon send photos of Dora,my little AKC "chameleon" pug, showing her "before" as solid black ,and "after",(at one year of age), in her beautiful silver gray coat. Hmmmmm, heres a thought...knowing that it IS possible to have a solid black,AKC registered pug, from reputable lines, change before your eyes to silver/gray...what will these show breeders ,who are in opposition to this color, do when/if this happens to them??? It was a total surprise to me when my pug's color changed so dramatically! A pleasant surprise! Best wishes! Rhonda
